| dc.description | The higher education system in Latin America has undergone profound transformations in recent decades, driven by the need to guarantee academic quality and the implementation of accreditation processes. These mechanisms have reconfigured the organizational structures of universities, promoting management models based on innovation, continuous improvement of teaching and strengthening research. Accreditation not only fulfills a regulatory function, but also acts as a factor of institutional change, generating impacts on university governance and on the relationship with internal and external stakeholders. The massification of higher education has led to the creation of national bodies responsible for establishing quality standards, although their implementation has faced challenges related to institutional diversity and budgetary restrictions. Globalization has accentuated these dynamics, increasing competition with foreign universities and giving relevance to international rankings, which influence accreditation policies. This process has strengthened accountability and results-oriented management, although it has given rise to debates on university autonomy. Despite these controversies, accreditation has contributed to administrative transparency and efficiency, favoring strategic planning and the evaluation of institutional performance. | en-US |
