| dc.description | Objective: To characterize sustainable management in community gardens in Santiago de Cali, Colombia, from a phenomenological perspective, based on the territorial practices and lived experiences of stakeholders involved in these initiatives. Design/Methodology: This descriptive qualitative study adopted a phenomenological perspective and was guided by a deductive approach. The interview protocol was developed and validated by expert consensus. Primary data were collected from two community gardens selected using nonprobability sampling and included interviews with five key stakeholders. Secondary data were obtained through a bibliometric analysis.Findings: The study developed a framework comprising two categories, four subcategories, and 22 items for examining stakeholders’ perspectives on sustainable management. Through the triangulation of literature, expert input, and empirical evidence, a prototype methodology was designed. The methodology consists of three phases and nine components integrated within a holistic framework that supports implementation, monitoring, learning, and continuous improvement in community-based initiatives. Conclusions: The sustainable management of the community gardens studied depends on the coordination of leadership, community participation, governance, and social cohesion. In addition, practices associated with the circular economy, collective learning, and the construction of shared meanings strengthen the community’s commitment to sustainability and contribute to the long-term continuity of these initiatives.Originality: The study integrates local knowledge, empirical evidence, expert judgment, and theoretical frameworks to develop a prototype methodology for the sustainable management of community gardens. Although the proposal is tailored to the gardens studied, it may be adapted to other initiatives with similar characteristics. | en-US |
