dc.descriptionWith the time, the number of studies associated to the martensitic transformation has been expanded; therefore, understand as this mechanism operates and as it confers different characteristics to diverse materials where it occurs, many studies has been conducted in different areas carrying out to discoveries at microstructural, kinetic and crystallographic level. This paper presents an overview of the martensitic transformation, beginning with a historical development, through a review on their morphology and kinetically characteristics, in addition to an analysis of the prospects of the studies carried out in the area, with a special interest in the phenomena of thermo-elasticity and shape memory.en-US
dc.descriptionCon el paso del tiempo, el número de estudios asociados a la transformación martensítica se ha incrementado, por tanto, para poder interpretar cómo este mecanismo opera y cómo le confiere características tan diferentes a los materiales donde se produce, han sido realizados múltiples trabajos en diferentes áreas conduciendo a descubrimientos a nivel microestructural, cinético, cristalográfico. Es así como en este trabajo se presenta una descripción de la transformación martensítica, comenzando con su desarrollo histórico, pasando por una revisión sobre sus características morfológicas y cinéticas, además de un análisis de las perspectivas de los estudios realizados en el área, con especial interés en los fenó-menos de termoelasticidad y memoria de forma.es-ES
