Objective: To identify and compare the main themes in circular economy in academic literature published between 2020 and 2024 by applying a multilingual approach to examine thematic differences across languages.Design/Methodology: The study was exploratory, adopted a quantitative approach, and employed text mining techniques. A corpus was compiled from the Crossref database, from which 120 scientific articles were initially retrieved. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 92 articles with abstracts in Spanish, English, and German were selected for analysis. The analysis involved linguistic processing, followed by the generation of word clouds for each language and the implementation of the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) model in R.Findings: The results revealed thematic differences across the three language corpora. The Spanish-language publications focused predominantly on waste management and the efficient use of resources. In contrast, the English-language texts emphasized sustainable design and systemic innovation, whereas the German-language corpus highlighted climate protection and energy efficiency. Overall, these findings show that the thematic emphasis of circular economy research varies depending on the language of publication. Conclusions: The analysis demonstrates that the circular economy topic is not addressed uniformly in the scientific literature. Instead, the identified differences reflect distinct patterns in the thematic organization of knowledge across the languages examined.Originality: This study makes a novel contribution by integrating multilingual thematic analysis with text mining techniques applied to academic literature. This approach enables a comparison of thematic structures across languages within a single document corpus.en-US
