The agricultural industry is of great importance due to its contribution to food security, job creation, and economic growth. However, the by-products of its processes generate a relevant impact on the environment, due to the remains of food that are wasted, and that emit greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. For this reason, the use of clean technologies that make use of agro-industrial waste is essential, turning an economic sector into one that is sustainable in the long term. Thermal conversion technologies are widely used for these purposes, and within this category, there are more innovative transformation methods that are gaining more and more popularity in the world, such as microwave-assisted hydrothermal carbonization, which is a sustainable methodology characterized by consuming water from the same waste, and without generating atmospheric emissions of carbon dioxide, generating a product (hydrochar) rich in carbon. In this work, the potential for using agro-industrial waste through hydrothermal carbonization is evidenced, studying in particular the behavior of blueberry bagasse waste, comparing it with apple bagasse waste and how they present great energy potential. The thesis in its chapter 2 provides a reference framework of key concepts throughout the writing, and presents an exhaustive bibliographic review together with a meta-analysis of different biomasses, thus allowing to identify the influence of factors on yield and carbon content. of the hydrochar, later chapter 3 presents the hypotheses and predictions, followed by chapter 4 which contains the objectives of the thesis, in chapter 5 the work methodology is observed and chapter 6 shows the series of results that respond to the objectives , Among these results, it stands out that thanks to the statistical analysis carried out on the data set, a model was found that can be replicated in other types of biomass or agro-industrial waste, in addition a comparison was made between the yields and carbon contents of the biomass of blueberry and apple bagasse, ending with obtaining the maximum or optimum point in which the hydrochar with a higher carbon content. The characteristics of hydrochar allow considering it with a potential as absorbent and in general the benefits of this were analyzed from the environmental, economic and social perspectives, finally, in chapter 7 the relevance of this thesis and the influence of temperature in the carbon content of the hydrochar.spa
