Color, a gateway between the material and the immaterial in the work of Débora Arango
Abstract
La maestra Débora Arango conocida como una de las pintoras más importante del siglo XX en Colombia, autora, entre otras obras, de la serigrafía El recreo-las monjas y el cardenal, plantea un discurso acusador por medio de su paleta de pintura, la mayoría de veces impregnada por el color negro, siendo éste en su significado subjetivo oscuro y negativo debido a la ausencia de luz, hecho demostrado en la reflexión artística de Arango a razón del contexto en el cual se desarrolló. Significados trazados a partir de lo subjetivo de los colores por el científico y poeta alemán Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe, autor de La Teoría del Color, texto en el que brinda un sentido intrínseco a cada color exponiendo un método utilizado por los artistas con el propósito de compartir una narrativa o una intención desde el uso y significados de los colores.
Abstract
The teacher Débora Arango known as one of the most important painters of the twentieth century in Colombia, author, among other works, of the screenprint El recreo-las monjas y el cardenal, makes an accusing speech through her palette of paint, the majority sometimes impregnated by the black color, this being dark and negative in its subjective meaning due to the absence of light, a fact demonstrated in Arango's artistic reflection due to the context in which it was developed. Meanings traced from the subjective of colors by the German scientist and poet Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe, author of The Theory of Color, a text in which he provides an intrinsic meaning to each color, exposing a method used by artists for the purpose of share a narrative or an intention from the use and meanings of colors.
