Design of a reliability-based maintenance methodology (RCM) for a sludge screw conveyor (VCL) at the San Fernando de Itagüí wastewater treatment plant
Abstract
In this work, a design of a maintenance methodology based on reliability (RCM Reliability Centered Maintenance) is presented for a screw transported of biosolids in the San Fernando wastewater plant in the municipality of Itagüí, where it is intended to be evaluated. In this degree work or monograph, we want to provide a design or maintenance methodology based on RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) for an asset called VLC_1, located in the San Fernando wastewater treatment plant in the city of Itagüí, located in the metropolitan area. The vertical screw conveyor, we carried out an RCM, to optimize its reliability and reliability, to carry out RCM, we did an FMEA, the taxonomy of the asset is to note that the equipment has a maintenance plan and there are qualified personnel for the different types of maintenance , preventive, corrective, predictive, etc. One of the forms of contributions to the RCM design is through a Pareto analysis that gives us great help to visualize or identify which 80% of components are generating the different failures and to be able to attack these failures in a way effective.
A criticality analysis of the asset is carried out where we identify the priorities in the maintenance tasks, determining what consequences may occur if there is a potential failure, if we do not comply with the maintenance tasks that may occur, trying to reduce the uncertainty to the minimum possible. Establishing an RCM maintenance design allows us to obtain higher availability, fewer asset failures, create a culture of good RCM maintenance, and know the operational context of the asset, based on the 7 questions from Jhon Moubray's booklet
