dc.description.abstractenglish | In this work, the effect of the use of Al2O3/water nanofluids stabilized by SDBS in the thermal performance and capillary limit of a heat pipe was evaluated. A previous stability study by absorbance measurements was done using three Al2O3 concentrations (0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 wt.%) and two SDBS concentrations (0.064 and 0.32 wt.%). Then, most stable nanofluids were selected for measurements of viscosity, surface tension and density and subsequently were used in tests of thermal performance and capillary limit in a heat pipe. It was found that the most stable nanofluid was at Al2O3 and SDBS concentrations of 0.5 wt.% and 0.32 wt.%, respectively. However, in heat pipe test was obtained that the nanofluid with Al2O3 concentration of 0.1 wt.% and without surfactant, improved the thermal performance and capillary limit 5 W above the value obtained with water. | eng |
